“Decision Making in the Use of Bioceramic Materials"
Since the introduction of Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) in the mid-1990's as a root-end filling material, the indications for the use of MTA has widened and several other bioceramic materials have been developed. These newer bioceramic materials have demonstrated the ability to overcome some of the significant limitations of MTA and have the potential to enhance clinical endodontic treatment.
Topics:
The decision-making process for the use of a bioceramic ceramic material can create a great deal of uncertainty as many of these products are new and have very little evidence to support their use. The evidence that does exist is often very limited and may come with a bias. When a clinician makes a choice to utilize one of the products there is a process that one may go through when deciding to use a certain material.

About the Presenter:
Dr. Parhar completed his undergraduate degree in Honors Biochemistry from the University of British Columbia and went on to obtain his DMD from the University of British Columbia Faculty of Dentistry in 1997. After practicing general dentistry for 11 years, Dr.Parhar returned to UBC for the Graduate Endodontics program where he received his Diploma in Endodontics and Masters of Science degree. He currently is in private practice in Port Moody, British Columbia.
