“Lessons From the History of Medicine"

The discovery and development of modern anesthesia in the 19th century marks a turning point in the history of medicine and surgery. We will explore the state of medicine prior to and following the introduction of anesthesia, the major events that led to its discovery and widespread use, and the effects it had on the public and medical practitioners. We will conclude by comparing that period of time to modern-day endodontics to reflect on recent technological advancements in the field, and what the future may hold for our specialty.
